About the Website

Our website was launched on January 8th, 2009. Our goal for the new redesign was to provide a website that could become a destination for job seekers, educators, business owners, children, teens and adults from our community and around the globe. If you're looking for a book to read on the airplane, a storytime session to keep your toddler occupied, a list of resources to help you find a job or a meeting space for your study group, you can find it all at westervillelibrary.org.

In order to accomplish this goal, we sought out solutions that would help us to customize the look and feel of the library's web presence. Below are a few of the products that we have used to build our website.

Radiant CMS

Radiant is an open source content management system that is designed for use with small teams. Radiant provides our staff the ability to create and manage content.

Encore (Library Catalog)

Gone are the days of the card catalog. Encore is our next-generation library catalog, offering search features similar to Amazon.com and Google. Some highlights include tag clouds, faceted searching and relevancy ranking. Encore is powered by Innovative Interfaces, our integrated library system (ILS). You can search Encore from our homepage.

Springshare's LibGuides

Our new Explore guides are powered by LibGuides, a web 2.0 SaaS product that allows staff to bundle library resources and suggested websites together by topic. You can view and search our Explore guides at explore.westervillelibrary.org.

Evanced's Events, Room Reserve & Summer Reader

Evanced is the brainpower behind three of our most-used services at the library. Patrons can view and register for events and programs using the Events module, request and reserve the use of our meeting rooms or study rooms with the Room Reserve module, and register for and participate in our Summer Reading Programs and Winter Reading Programs using the Summer Reader module.

Twitter

We have integrated our Twitter profile with our homepage, allowing us to post updates and links to featured pages even when our website is inaccessible. One benefit to this is that people already active within the Twitter community can follow our updates and link back to our website at their convenience.

Other Social Networking Sites

We have also expanded our services to including other social networking profiles, in order to meet the users where they are. We are currently managing online profiles for Delicious, Facebook, Flickr, GoodReads, SlideShare and YouTube.
